James Brown

James Brown, a 33-year-old vacuum cleaner repairman in Heanor, Derbyshire now holds the Guinness World Record for having the largest vacuum cleaner collection: 322 vacuum cleaners, each one different from the others.

That’s more than double the number of his closest rival.

James started collecting vacuum cleaners when he was eight years old. He repaired them after school and during summer holidays.

“All I’ve ever wanted is to work with vacuum cleaners — I suppose I’m the ultimate clean freak.”

The fact that he had 322 vacuum cleaners came as a surprise to James. He thought he had over 200 but didn’t know exactly how many. When he was tidying up his shop prior to the arrival of the Guinness judges, he found he had 322.
