Schmeckfest, began in 1959. It celebrates the heritage and culture of Germans from Russia Mennonites who emigrated to North America starting in the 1870s.
We like it — the word “schmeck” sounds funny to us. “Schmeck” is the German word for taste. “Schmeck gut” means tastes good.
“Schmeckfest” means Festival of Tasting.
Some people think German food is dull. But not everyone does.
