An alternative to “The Season”
This event is down to our level down to our level of celebrating the ordinary. It is a far cry, much to our liking, from the British high-society social calendar known as The Season that runs from late spring through the summer with long-established dress codes and etiquette — Royal Ascot, Henley Royal Regatta, Chelsea Flower Show, Wimbledon, etc.

Good for those who find pea shooting to be to exciting.
• Stilton Cheese Rolling Festival
Definitely avoid this one that takes place the next day: Cooper’s Hill Cheese Rolling. It is much too dangerous.
Takes place every Shrove Tuesday. It began in 1545.
