Several DMC members who are tax lawyers and accountants emailed us about onr of the strangest taxes they have ever heard of. We’ll be following this closely.

Germany has a per schnitzel tax. The tax authorities in Hammerbruecke presented a $51,600 tax bill to Gerhard Kalscheuer. Gerhard owns a restaurant in a working-class neighborhood where, at least when it comes to food, bigger is better.

Gerhard says, “It is not tax evasion. If I served the customers smaller portions at the normal price like that I wouldn’t have any customers because that wouldn’t fill them up.”
