World Water Day, sponsored by the United Nations, is a day to bring people’s attention to the importance of freshwater and good management of freshwater resources. It’s an opportunity for each of us to learn more about water related issues, to spread the word, and to take action to make a difference.

World Water Day began at the 1992 UN Conference on Environment and Development where an international observance for water was recommended. The UN General Assembly designated March 22 as World Water Day.
