Wales' tree of year

The votes have been counted: “The Lonely Tree of Llanfyllin” won more votes than any of the other eight nominees in a national competition for “Wales’ Tree of the Year” for 2014. It also will represent represent Wales in the Europesn “Tree of the Year” contest taking place in February 2015.

What’s amazing about this is that the tree fell down last February:

The tree is a Scots pine that’s over 200 years old. Will it have enough life in to get back up? Funds are being raised to do this.
