January 26, 1784 — Ben Franklin wanted turkey instead of eagle for America’s National Bird
On January 26, 1784, Benjamin Franklin sent a letter to his daugher in which he expressed his displeasure with the choice of the eagle for the symbol of America. Franklin wanted the turkey.
We agree with Franklin. Turkeys are duller than eagles. Turkeys more stable, methodical, and reliable. They just walk around, don’t soar like eagles.
