In his book Great Plains, Ian Fraier writes:
“In former times, Indians thought the white men’s custom of shaking hand was comical. Sometimes two Indians would approach each other, shake hands, and then fall on the ground laughing.”
Hand shaking — not native to America — “comical” was how Native Americans viewed it
So what? There wasn’t much about our early colonists that wasn’t comical to native Americans including their inability to feed themselves in such a fertile landscape!
