- The National Hedge Laying Society [www.hedgelaying.org.uk] was founded in 1978 to keep alive the craft of hedge laying. More recently the upsurge of interest in conservation and with the recognition that the British countryside is one of our most valuable assets the society has endeavored to encourage training and education as well as research into good hedgerow management.
- Our Patron, HRH the Prince of Wales, is also a keen hedge layer having been taught by some of our members. Each year we run the prestigious event of the National Hedge laying Championships, with over 100 competitors from all parts of the UK.
- We are delighted to be holding our 35th National Championship on the Waddesdon Estate, by Kind permission of the Honourable Lord and Lady Rothschild.
- There will be various competitions throughout the day as well as trade stands and local craft activities.
