March unplug

National Day of Unplugging is sponsored by Reboot, an organization for preserving Jewish traditions. They encourage frantic, hyperconnected people to take a Day of Rest — recharge — by not using computers, cell phones, or other technology for 24 hours —  from sundown on Friday March 7 to sundown Saturday March 8.

Seven Things to Do on National Day of Unplugging” from The Daily Beast

The article has suggestions on what do to for each of these seven things to do while you’re away from technology:

1.  Exercise

2.  Read a book

3.  Get outside

4.  Email sabbatical

5.  Travel somewhere that does not have WiFi

6.  Be alone

7.  Get a cat

Comments section of the website: what’s interesting is that a number of comments are pro technology — not eager to unplug:

•  “Technology boosts social interaction”

•  “Think of how you would accomplish whatever you are doing if you didn’t have technology”

•  “More bandwidth for me”

•  Best comment: “This country would do well to take a break from ‘comment’ sections like this.”
