Today, I went to the beach front with my children.
I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back [exclamation mark removed I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone [exclamation mark removed]

Dear Lillian,
Thanks for informing us about this. It’s certainly unforftuanate that happened.
We hope the bad experience you had with this does not discourages others from listening to seashells — it’s such a fine form of safe excitement.
The lesson to be learned here is simply that all of us should look in the seashell before listening.
You and your children can do that next time and then have an enjoyable day at the beach. And our fellow dull men who also indulge in this safe excitement now know, thanks to the information you sent us, can do likewise.
We wish you the best on your future trips to the beach with your children.
Or, if you don’t go to the beach again, you can still listen to ocean sounds. “There’s an app for that,” something we hear practically every day now. The situation here is no different. Here’s an app for this:
