Wakefield Rhubarb Appreciation Society

This is a Facebook group page “for fans of true Wakefield Rhubarb, the real stuff [exclamation mark removed]”

The page has 60 members (as of February 27, 2011, the date of this is being written). It’s creator is Peter Lodge in Leeds (England).

The page give us important trivia:

  • More than 90% of the world’s rhubarb is grown, according to the page, in “the world famous rhubarb triangle of Leeds, Wakefield and Morley.”
  • The first rhubarb of the year is harvested by candlelight in a dark wooden shed.

Rhubarb Appreciation Society 

This also is a Facebook group page. It has 37 members (as of February 27, 2011). It’s creator is Ellie Equizi in Manchester (England).

The page says rhubarb is a very understated vegetable. Something in common with dull men, we think.

The page has a poem in praise of “the mighty rhubarb.”
