A day to celebrate nothing was created in 1973 by San Francisco Examiner columnist Harry Pullman Coffin to be the ultimate unevent that would “provide Americans with one national day when they can just sit without celebrating, observing, or honoring anything.”
Coffin died in 1981. The day he created continues now under the sponsorship of Coffin’s National Nothing Foundation, Capitola, California. It is listed each year in Chase’s Calendar of Events.

Nothing, Arizona was established in 1977, abandoned in 2005. At its height, it had a population of 4. It had a gas station and a convenience store.
