We started Fill Our Staplers Day when we were tired of trying to staple something and finding the stapler was out of staples.
In 2012 we submitted it to McGraw-Hill for inclusion in their Chase’s Calendar of Events for 2013. It was accepted. It continued on to be in the 2014 edtition.
Many of our members as well as others are reporting in saying that they filled their staplers yesterday. They thank us for reminding them to do that.
We were pleased to see that this year the day is being picked up by numerous websites that list events. Two of them, daysoftheyear.com and thelatebay.com, describe it nicely and gave us credit for the day (are we tooting our horn too loudly):
Is there anything more annoying in this world than going to use a stapler, only to find it has run out of staples? Yes, yes there is. A huge number of things. However, that does not detract from the fact that it can be extremely annoying, especially if you are at work, under time pressure, and have no idea where the spare staples are held.
Originally created by the Dull Men’s Club, Fill Our Staplers Day attempts to solve this super-serious problem. Occurring twice a year, the day encourages people, especially office workers, to refill their stapler, with a view to minimizing the chances of a workplace crisis.
So if you work in an environment where staplers are shared with others, do your bit for humanity and use this day to ensure it is well stocked for future use.
