Dear François,
So far as I am aware, dull men have no problem eating alone. Dull men enjoy quietude. It’s obviously quieter when eating alone.
And, as the article says, it’s having a meal with someone you get on well with.

The problem of dining in company is the undue distraction from the blandness of one’s normal repast. Besides, a dining companion will inevitably want something exciting to eat.
